Woolworths: Three years of inviol
"We were so impressed with computer vision AI and our journey and partnership with iviol."Denva Wren, Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Woolworths
inviol has given Woolworths a lens across tricky traffic management areas. These are spots where visibility isn't always good, with different workflows and different traffic management directions.
Over three years, Woolworths has seen around a 40% reduction in serious incidents and a 60% reduction in damage to equipment. They've also made long-term changes to their traffic management plans.
Learning from the data
When one site went live three years ago, inviol showed spikes during high inbound truck windows. Lots of trucks were arriving in a short timeframe, and it was causing unusual behaviour from pedestrians and drivers around heavy vehicles. That gave the team an opportunity to smooth out the receiving window, improving turnaround times for carriers and safety at the same time.
Coaching for long-term change
The site team follows a daily process. Clips come straight through to the team, so nobody has to hunt for them in a CCTV system. Safety teams analyse the clips and use them to decide on the steps the team can take next.
"That's very powerful around being able to have a conversation to change the behaviour long term and those coaching conversations have been instrumental to us over the last three years. As soon as the team realised it was about their safety and keep them safe and others and drivers and our contract partners, then actually it really was a no-brainer."
